The 11th edition of the City People Real Estate Awards spotlighted key figures driving real estate growth in Oyo State, including Seyi Makinde and Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, both of whom received notable recognition for their contributions to the sector.
Held at the Etal Events Centre in Oregun, Lagos, the event saw Governor Makinde honoured as Most Real Estate Friendly Governor of the Year. This accolade reflects his administration’s commitment to policies that have attracted investment and stimulated housing development across the state.
The award was received on his behalf by Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem, Chairman of Afia Group. In a remarkable achievement, Afia Homes and Properties was also named Biggest Indigenous Real Estate Developer of the Year 2026, further cementing its position as a leading force in Nigeria’s real estate industry.
In addition, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja, was specially recognised for his enduring influence on indigenous real estate investment in Ibadan. During the ceremony, Karheem dedicated Afia Homes’ award to the monarch, acknowledging his inspiration and support in shaping the company’s vision and growth.
